BURGLARS tricked their way into an 83-year-old pensioner's home by asking for a bowl of water for their puppy. The two men stole a digital camera and jewellery from the elderly man’s home after taking advantage of his kindness.
The thieves knocked on the pensioner’s door in Robin Close, Market Deeping, between 6pm and 8.30pm on Sunday, and asked for a bowl of water for their boxer puppy.
One of the men went upstairs and stole from the pensioner after claiming that the puppy had run up the stairs. Stamford, Bourne and Deepings Inspector Gary Stewart described the burglary as a “terrible” crime.
One of the thieves was in his early 30s, about 5ft 4in tall, of medium build and was scruffily dressed.
The other was 5ft 6in tall, in his early 20s and slim, with short dark hair.
He was wearing casual clothes.
