THE parents of a teenager injured in a crash on Friday night have expressed their thanks to strangers who stopped to help their daughter.
The 18-year-old, who does not wish to be named, rolled her Peugeot at about 8.30pm on Good Friday on North Bank in the city centre.
The car was destroyed in the accident, but the teenager escaped with minor bruising and whiplash.
At the scene three passing motorists came to the victim's aid, and contacted her parents to let them know what had happened.
Today her father said: "She is alright now, but it could have been much worse.
"I really want to thank a couple who stopped to try and help her at the side of the road.
"They went to fetch my wife, and then stayed at the scene with emergency services."
He said that he had been in contact to thank another man who also stopped to offer his help.
After the crash the woman was rushed to Peterborough District Hospital, but was released just an hour later.
The woman's father added: "The emergency services did a fantastic job as well, and I really want to thank everyone who helped.
"She just suffered some bruising from her seatbelts, and a few aches and pains elsewhere.
"She has been laughing and joking about it since."
