VULCANS and Klingons were united at the weekend to raise more than 1,000 for charity.A Star Trek banquet, organised by Trekkers Jim and Charlotte Kebbell, from Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, saw more than 60 fans of the show turn up from across the country – and even Europe – to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

And along with fans of the show, the guest of honour was John Carrigan, who played Klingon captain Kargh in the TV series.

The evening was held at the Holiday Inn in Milton Keynes, with 67 guests turning up all in fancy dress costume for the event.

And the restaurant in the hotel was transformed into a set from the cult series, with banners, props and other memorabilia.

Mrs Kebbell said that the event had been particularly special for one couple.

She said: “Matt and Lorain Bergin had cut short their honeymoon to be at the event – so we decided to give them a surprise Klingon wedding, which everyone else knew about but them.

“We also had Klingon karaoke session, and lots of other activities, and we are really looking forward to next year’s event.”

Mr Kebbell said: “It was a fantastic night, and we were really surprised at how much money we made for the charity.

“We never thought we would beat last year’s total of 1,000 so we were really happy with 1,400.

“Everyone involved was really good, from people who donated items and the Holiday Inn, to John Carrigan, who gave his time for free.”
