ROTARY club members got an insight into the workings of the city's healthcare system.Head of corporate affairs at Peterborough Primary Care Trust (PCT) Aidan Fallon, assured members of the Rotary Club of Peterborough of the city’s high standards in this area with a look into the various workings of our regional PCT.
More than 1,500 trust employees serve the Peterborough area, and Mr Fallon’s job is to ensure that the public get to understand just a little bit more about the complexities of such a large organisation.
The PCT website at www.peterborough.nhs.uk is full of useful information, and although, the trust was only founded as recently as October 2006, it is already receiving more than 500,000 visits annually.
Mr Fallon reflected on some of the stakeholders that need to be kept regularly informed on health matters including councillors, MPs, patient forums and local doctors.
He said: “We have to make certain that everyone has the correct perception of the NHS.
“In order to protect public health we have to ensure that our information goes out on many subjects, like the ongoing MMR vaccine debate.”
