A PETERBOROUGH-based company has shown its support for aspiring artists across the UK and Italy by sponsoring the Renaissance Arts Prize.

A PETERBOROUGH-based company has shown its support for aspiring artists across the UK and Italy by sponsoring the Renaissance Arts Prize.Indesit is backing the arts competition, hosted by the Italian Cultural Institute, London, which is in its second year and was launched with the aim of opening doors to artists.

It offers an opportunity of cultural and professional exchange, with the two main prize winners invited to an artist's residency in Tuscany next year.

The competition is open to all residents in the UK and Italy under the age of 35, and entries must be based on photography or video art.

Twelve successful shortlisted entrants will be invited to an awards ceremony in London on July 31, where their work will be on display to the public and the lucky winners will be announced.

Managing director of Indesit Company UK Enrico Vita said: "We are delighted to be supporting this prestigious competition, and I am looking forward to meeting some of this year's talented finalists at the awards ceremony in July."

The competition is open to applicants until July 3.
