A WOMAN has spoken of her lucky escape – after leaving her car outside her Peterborough home only seconds before it was smashed into by another car, leaving a trail of destruction.Today, Christine Judd (51) stood over the mangled wreckage of her car and the bricks and mortar of what was a line of garages in Gransley Rise, Westwood, and considered herself fortunate to still be alive.

For the situation could have been so much worse for Mrs Judd, who had only walked away from the boot of her car moments before the collision happened.

She said: "A car came round the corner and hit the neighbour's garage, then my garage and car, which was on the drive. The force knocked it into my other neighbour's garden.

"I missed it by 10 seconds, as I'd just been to the boot of the car to get some shopping out. I hadn't even reached my back door when there was this crash, bang, wallop.

"My car's a write-off and the garages need rebuilding. It made such a loud bang that the whole street came out to look."

Mrs Judd, who has given CCTV footage of the crash to police, confronted the driver of the car following the incident, which happened at about 1pm, but he ran off.

A police spokesman said a 22-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
