Ortons: MORE than 140 children have taken part in a city college's first ever festival of dance.Bushfield Community College in Orton Goldhay hosted the event to enable young people to demonstrate and share ideas, expertise and enthusiasm with dance.

Three local primary schools including Braybrook Primary, Matley Primary and Orton Wistow Primary were invited to perform at the college.

From bopping and twisting to jiving and swaying, all of the youngsters had wide smiles on their faces as they showed off their dancing talents.

Sports co-ordinator Sue Edwards who set up the event, said: "It was such an enjoyable and very worthwhile event.

"I'm sure we have all gained so much from the first Festival of Dance.

"The performances were so entertaining and, equally by sharing and observing new skills our understanding and knowledge of performing and teaching dances has been greatly enhanced."

Musa Mohammed (13), who took part, said: "When I was a young child I was inspired to dance by an older student.

"I now love dance. I hope my friends and I not only entertained the children but also motivated them to continue to develop their dancing skills."
