A heartbroken couple have launched a desperate plea for help after losing a bag containing their wedding rings and cash to pay for their wedding in Peterborough city centre.Adrian Wadey is due to get married to his fiancee Jane Walker on Saturday but says the plans will have to be put on hold unless they can be quickly re-united with the lost items.

The pair were making last minute preparations for their wedding during a shopping trip to Peterborough when they lost the bag on the top floor of Marks & Spencer in Bridge Street between 3.15pm and 4.15pm on Thursday (9 July).

Staff have since searched the store from top to bottom and the police have also been contacted but, with hours ticking away until the planned ceremony at All Saints Church in Huntingdon, the bag has still not been found.

Adrian (45), of The Shrubbery in Huntingdon, said: "We are desperate. Our whole lives were ahead of us starting from tomorrow but now everything has fallen apart."

The dark blue, glossy paper bag has a silver rope handle and has Francis Wain Jewellers written on it.

It contains an envelope addressed to Rev Andrew Milton and Mark Savage with 451 cash inside as well as a box containing two Celtic-design gold wedding rings, which cost 450.

"We parked in the Queensgate Centre car park yesterday afternoon and took the bag with us because we didn't want to run the risk of leaving it in the car," Adrian said.

"We were upstairs at Marks & Spencer when we last had it. We must have put it down and either someone has picked it up and handed it in somewhere or it has been stolen.

"If someone has picked it up can they please get in touch with us as soon as possible because, without it, we can't get married tomorrow as we can't afford to pay the vicar."

Anyone who may have found the bag is asked to call Adrian on 07522 051568 or police on 0345 456 4564.
