Breaking news 8.45pm Saturday: Boy, 10, missing

POLICE are becoming increasingly concerned for the safety of a 10-year-old schoolboy who has been missing from his home since Friday afternoon.

POLICE are becoming increasingly concerned for the safety of a 10-year-old schoolboy who has been missing from his home since Friday afternoon.

The parents of Denis Chmelebsksis contacted police after the youngster did not return to his Wisbech home after leaving school at about 4pm on Friday.

Officers investigating Denis's sudden disappearance say they do not believe he has been the victim of a crime, but are concerned for his welfare because of his young age.

It is believed the youngster may have been sighted in the St Michael's Avenue area of the town at about 9.30pm on Friday, but he has not been seen since.

Denis is slim, about 4ft 10ins and has short, blond and spiky hair.

When he was last seen he was wearing black trousers, black trainers and either a bottle green top with an apple logo on it, or a blue Manchester United replica shirt.

Investigating officer Sgt Sharon Nicolson, from Wisbech police station, said: "We are very keen to trace Denis because he is young and hasn't been seen since yesterday.

"We have no reason to believe he has been the victim of a crime but we and his family want to trace him as soon as possible.

"We would ask anyone who thinks they have seen a boy matching his description to get in touch."

Anyone with information is urged to call Cambridgeshire police on 0345 456 4564.
