MORE than 100 Rotarians and their families were entertained with Christmas favourites by the city's Salvation Army brass band.A service at the Holiday Inn in Thorpe Wood, Peterborough, was led by Major Carol Bailey, and the assembled guests were also treated by former BBC cameraman Clive Read giving a rendition of Silent Night in German.
President of the Rotary Club of Peterborough Phil Thompson said: “Each year the club enjoys the Salvation Army band carol service – as do so many other clubs and organisations. It is humbling to see the amount of work the band and the Salvation Army do at this time of year to spread their message of good cheer.
“I’m sure I speak for all our members and many others when I say the Salvation Army contributes greatly to the whole community.
“They give up so much of their time for others. Well done David, Carol and the band. And warm Christmas wishes to all involved with the Salvation Army.”
