A PARADISE of beautiful blooms from across the world greeted thousands of garden enthusiasts who flocked to a popular horticultural show.

A PARADISE of beautiful blooms from across the world greeted thousands of garden enthusiasts who flocked to a popular horticultural show.Dubbed Peterborough's equivalent of the Chelsea Flower Show, the East of England Garden Show had a lot to live up to – but it proved to be a winner with green-fingered visitors, who poured in from miles around.

It was the seventh year that the three-day event came to the East of England Showground in Alwalton, and organisers pulled out all the stops to ensure families had a great day out.

Former Big Brother winner and DIY TV shows presenter Craig Phillips was the special guest, giving spectators a masterclass in decking and answering questions.

There were also more than 250 exhibitors offering discounted pot plants, ranging from Australian ferns to English roses, and a selection of garden furniture.

There were also vivid floral displays, garden tool demonstrations and labour-saving innovations.

Visitors could also sample delicious savoury treats in the food and drink court or pick up a hand-made craft, while children were kept entertained by Peppa Pig.
