A MAN who was behind the wheel drink-driving a year after being disqualified for the same offence has been jailed.Christopher Hewitt (23), of Bringhurst, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, pleaded guilty to one count of drink-driving, two counts of driving while disqualified and two counts of driving with no insurance, at Peterborough Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Hewitt was spotted by police officers driving his Vauxhall Cavalier in Padholme Road, Eastfield, Peterborough, at 6pm on Thursday.

Officers described Hewitt driving erratically on the wrong side of the road, and mounting a kerb.

When they pulled Hewitt over, they gave him a breath test, and he was found to have 61 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 milliltres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes of alcohol to 100 millilitres of breath.

Hewitt had been disqualified from driving in August last year after being found driving while under the influence of alcohol.

A police check also revealed the car was not insured.

In police interview, Hewitt also admitted he had driven the car last Tuesday.

He was given a four-month prison term for driving with excess alcohol, and a four- month sentence for each charge of driving while disqualified, with all sentences to be served concurrently.

He was also disqualified from driving for a further 46 months. No separate penalty was given for the no insurance counts.
