FORMER Walton Comprehensive School pals gathered at the Dragon Pub in Werrington to say "g'day" to "Aussie Glen" on his return to the area after a 40-year absence.Fifteen-year-old Glen Powell had emigrated with his family to Australia in 1970 as part of a scheme which the Australian government ran to give British migrants assisted passage to attract them over to the other side of the world.

But last week he returned to his Peterborough roots from his home in Brisbane and received a warm "British" welcome in a reunion that had taken four decades to take place.

Along with former friends and neighbours, Glen's former English Teacher Roger Wallace also made an appearance.

Former school pal Jane Ekkes said the evening was a great success.

Jane added: "We had quite a few people turn up, and they really enjoyed it. Glen and his wife Judith had a great time."
