HUNDREDS of people lined the streets as personnel from 158 (Royal Anglian) Transport Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps (Volunteers), marched through the city at a special parade.

Up to 150 soldiers from the regiment exercised their Freedom of Peterborough and marched through the streets with bayonets fixed and flags flying to the beat of the Band of The Royal Anglian Regiment.

The regiment, whose headquarters is based on London Road, Peterborough, set off from St Peter's Road and paraded along Bourges Boulevard and on to Bridge Street.

Once past the Town Hall and on the Cathedral lawns, the Mayor Councillor Irene Walsh inspected the parade and took the salute.

She said the event was a "great honour".
