THERE was a whole lot of rocking going on as the fabulous '50s were brought to life at the Nene Valley Railway (NVR).A 1950s event saw a huge marquee installed on the platform with performing bands and stalls selling clothes from the era and memorabilia.
General manager of NVR Chris Rees said this was the second '50s weekend the railway had held, and he was hoping it would become an annual event.
"One of our members asked me if I would be interested in running such an event last year.
"I wasn't that keen at first, because I wasn't sure how popular it would be, but it ended up being a huge success," he said.
"We, therefore, decided to give it another go this year, and again it attracted a lot of people.
"We do rely on events such as these to provide us with a steady stream of revenue and have, in fact, got a big Thomas weekend on this weekend."
A vintage red bus, owned by another NVR member, also joined in the fun, offering lifts to the railway station in Wansford, near Peterborough, from Sacrewell Farm, at nearby Thornaugh.
