People visiting the Outpatients Department at Peterborough City Hospital on Friday will get the chance to enjoy the baking efforts of the clinic teams who will be taking part in the Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Team members are baking their favourite cakes to sell off in support of the charity throughout the day.
They are setting up a stall in the outpatients department main waiting area in the hope of lifting the spirits of patients attending appointments.
Jacqui Poole, senior staff nurse in the Outpatients Department, said: “We raised money for the same event last year, so it has now become a tradition to participate.
“It is such a good cause, supported by many staff whose lives have been touched by cancer in one way or another, so we all wanted to do our bit.
“We can’t offer tea and coffee as it is not very practical for the waiting area, but we can show off our baking skills. Last year the patients loved it, so we are hoping for the same response this year.”
Last year the team raised £400 – a target they hope to at least match.
Trust staff working in the Diagnostic Imaging department are also joining in the fun. They are staging a cake sale from 10am to noon in their waiting area on Friday, and all proceeds are also being raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.
