The National Grid has spent the day investigating the leak at Norwood Primary in Gunthorpe Road.
A spokesman for Peterborough City Council said all parents have been informed and all children are off site.
It has now been confirmed that the school will re-open tomorrow, Thursday October 19.
A spokesman for Cadent, which connects companies to the gas supply, said: “We were called to the school at 8.49am and arrived at 9.13am. A gas escape was located and made safe.
