Tanning fun raises cash for school

BRAVE men stripped down to their underwear to get a thick full-body spray tan to raise over £1,000 to benefit a Peterborough disabled school.

The ‘Spray Tan Your Man’ event took place to fund-raise for Spencer’s Ball, the annual event that raises donations for The Phoenix School in Clayton, Orton Goldhay.

It saw six men strip to their bare essentials to get five layers of the intensive 18 per cent spray tan - the strongest that is available.

The whole tanning event took six hours to complete. The final amount collected is being calculated, but organisers believe it is over £1,000.

The event was organised at Spencer’s Hair Salon by owner Liza Schwarz, who is also organising the philanthropic ball.

She said: “We would like to take all the men who took part to take on the ‘Essex look’. None of them are regular tanners and they ended up looking quite ridiculous.

“LA Tanning donated us the product, and we went a bit overboard.”

Spencer’s Ball will have a Roman theme this year, and will take place at the East of England Showground, Alwalton, Peterborough, on Saturday April 14.

There will be live music, a casino and charity auction. Tickets with a three course meal cost £65, without are £25.

For bookings and enquiries call Liza on 01733 324568.
