IT was in at the deep end for some pupils in Peterborough when they faced up to rigorous questioning from an array of the city's leading business people. The King's School pupils were put through their paces by doctors, lawyers, editors, bankers, accountants, publishers, investment advisors, mathematicians and human resources professionals during a series of mock work interviews.
The offices of Fisherprint in Peterborough were the venue for this year's mock interviews, and, over four days, 130 pupils each had a 30-minute interrogation.
Head teacher Gary Longman said: "One of the most important events in our school calendar, it gives pupils an essential understanding of what employers expect of applicants."
Marcus Horrell, president of the Rotary Club of Peterborough which organises the event, added: "We are very grateful to the broad mix of business people who volunteer their time.
"Our specialists include many non-Rotarians, too. And we are all agreed that there is a very good batch of talent growing up in the next generation from King's School."
