Opportunities for social workers

PEOPLE in Peterborough considering a career in social work are being urged to attend a gathering of experts.

Staff at Anglia Ruskin University are hosting an open afternoon at Guild House, in Oundle Road, Peterborough, on February 8 for anyone interested in social work.

Social work experts from the university’s faculty of health, social care and education will be on hand to offer information about the BA (Hons) Social Work degree, which runs over four years on a part-time basis.

There will also be an opportunity to meet current students and discover what it is like to study at Anglia Ruskin’s new Guild House campus.

Kathy Kingham, the course leader, said: “The course on offer is rare as there are only a handful of part-time social work degree courses in the UK.

“The course will appeal to people already working in social care who want to gain a formal qualification, but it’s also ideal for people who are currently out of employment and want to return to the workplace.

Entry requirements are two A-levels and passes in three other subjects at GCSE (A*-C), including mathematics and English, and some experience of social care is desirable.

It runs from 3.30pm to 6.30pm, with a presentation at 4.30pm. To attend call 0845 1964000.
