Musical stars put through final paces
TALENTED theatre students have been polishing their performances before opening night of a hit musical at a city school.
A cast and crew of almost 100 from The Voyager Academy, in Walton, will kick off a three-day run of the hit musical Hairspray.
Music, song and dance rehearsals have been in full swing at the school since September.
Theatre teachers have sourced a wardrobe of vintage 1960s costumes to help make this their most spectacular annual show to date.
Tina Allen, the head of performing arts at the academy, said audiences could expect high-energy dance routines and show songs such as Good Morning Baltimore.
She said: “We’re hoping for big audiences. We haven’t done Hairspray and it hasn’t been done in Peterborough before.”
Shows start at 7pm next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Tickets are on sale at the academy’s reception or on the door, priced £4 for adults and £3 for children.
