SENSITIVE information about young children has been lost, prompting a “serious incident investigation” by health officials.

Parents of pupils at the city’s Paston Ridings Primary School have been horrified to discover that Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust has lost the personal information of 47 children in the reception class.

The trust runs the school nursing service in Peterborough and had been sending documents to the Werrington Health Centre to be filled in.

The documents which have been lost include the name, address, date of birth, NHS number, school and registered GP of each child concerned.

But it is not known where the paperwork has gone and when it disappeared.

One parent, who did not want to be named, said: “This is just not acceptable. The parents thought it was a joke at first.

“Now we are just waiting to hear what’s happened. It’s been two weeks and we’ve heard nothing.

“I only hope it’s just us and it has not affected other people as well.”

The personal information was contained in a bundle of 47 sheets of paper – one for each affected child.

It was being sent through the trust’s internal post to the Werrington Health Centre but in a 10-day period it disappeared.

A trust spokeswoman said: “The sheets contained no clinical information, but were being sent as blanks for the school nurse to complete.

“These blank proformas were sent on January 13. We were alerted by the school nurse they had not arrived on January 23.

“We immediately commenced a serious incident investigation which is still ongoing.

“We have attempted to contact all of the parents of the children affected, but if any parent of a child in the reception class would like to check if their child is involved, they should call 01733 776178.”

She was unable to confirm whether the police were involved in the search for the documents.

Stephen Gash, headteacher at the school, said: “We have not heard anything official from the trust. All I know is they are not school records that have gone missing.”

Anyone wishing to make a complaint about the trust should call 01223 726774.

Yet again a 'trust spokeswoman' no name but then they're not up for a 'prestigious award'! The comment also appears to imply that the information that was on the forms doesn't matter. Fair enough, now publish " the name, address, date of birth, NHS number, school and registered GP" of all those through whose hands those 'blanks' passed just as long as there's no clinical information. Do it and just wait for the pips to squeak. They might take more care of information about others if they know that when they don't the same information on them is published.
