Pupils at Sir Harry Smith Academy returned for the new term last week to find a newly built dining area.
The dining and servery area is being used for the first time this term.
And the front of the school, in Eastrea Road, has been redesigned to create a new bus bay and parking area.
Work on new drama studios and the remodelling of the front is now well underway.
The new facilities are funded by the county council’s building schools for the future.
