Chance to learn how to teach adults
ADULTS looking to pass their skills and knowledge to other adults are invited to a new teacher training course in Peterborough.
The 14-week Preparing To Teach In The Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS) course will take place at City College Peterborough.
It is designed to prepare students for the world of teaching and training adults, with the college, in Brook Street, itself employing more than 150 part-time tutors delivering courses on a wide range of subjects, from baking cup cakes to astronomy and bricklaying.
It is suitable for adults looking for a new career where they can use their existing experience and skills. The course is the first step to receiving a recognised qualification in the teaching world.
Market development manager at the college, Jackie Hall, said: “More and more people are setting up as independent trainers or consultants and need the skills and qualifications to share their knowledge with other people.
“The course is also ideal for people who need to train and help people in the workplace, either in their primary role, or as part of their job role.
“The programme covers communication skills, session planning and dealing with a diverse audience.”
The 14-week course starts at the college on Tuesday, March 6.
The classes run between 6pm and 9pm and it costs a total of £350.
An interview is required prior to enrolment.
