CHILDREN got the chance to see behind the scenes at the Town Hall thanks to their top artistic skills.

Pupils from All Saints School, in Dogsthorpe Road, Peterborough, visited the building on Wednesday after helping design their ward councillor John Shearman’s Christmas cards.

The 14 children were able to meet Mayor of Peterborough councillor Paula Thacker and see their headteacher try on the Mayoral robes.

Headteacher Rachel Hutchinson said: “It was a super experience for the children and they all really enjoyed it.

“Everyone learned so much on the visit and the staff at the Town Hall were really helpful and informative.”

Cllr Shearman added: “The children took part in a competition to design my ward Christmas card, and it was a very difficult task to judge the winners, as there were so many good entries.

“The prize for the winners was to come to the Town Hall to see what happens.

“I was very impressed with them all and they all asked interesting questions.”
