Apprentice star to visit city college
APPRENTICE winner Lee McQueen is coming to Peterborough to help bring about the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Mr McQueen will be visiting Peterborough Regional College (PRC), in Park Crescent, on Tuesday, February 7 as part of National Apprenticeship Week.
The campaign runs from February 6 to 10 and aims to raise the profile of apprenticeships among employers, individuals, teachers, and parents, as well as the media.
Mr McQueen was chosen as Lord Alan Sugar’s apprentice during the 2008 series of the hit TV show, The Apprentice, landing him a six-figure salary job, back when Lord Sugar was Sir Alan, .
Mr McQueen, fondly remembered for his impression of a “reverse pterodactyl” during the programme’s traditional interview round, will be running workshops at PRC involving children from local secondary schools.
He will then spend time with the college’s current apprentices, delivering a motivational speech and telling all about his time on The Apprentice and his business venture Raw Talent Academy.
Mr McQueen will later host an evening event at PRC’s Parcs Restaurant, to which the college will be inviting its local business partners to thank them for their support.
It is just one of a host of activities the college has planned to mark the national campaign.
A spokeswoman for the regional college said: “Apprenticeship numbers have soared at PRC so the team is working hard to keep the profile and appeal up with both students and employers, with lots of other interactive activities planned for both current students and the community.”
