DELIGHTED children met unusual animals at a summer play scheme in Deeping St James.
The annual event sees a range of activities every summer holiday for children in the village with one of this year’s highlights being a visit from the Exotic Pet Refuge.
Phil Dilks, chairman of Deeping St James Parish Council which funds the week-long event, said: “The summer play scheme has been running for at least a generation. My children went there when they were young.
“I think it’s one of the best things we as a parish council do. Some years we wonder where the money is going to come from but we feel it is so important we have to do it.
“The activities really provide a break for parents and something exciting and stimulating for the children which helps keep them alert for the long summer break.”
The week-long event saw the children get their hands on a bearded dragon, as well as get their face painted and have a go at a football craft session.
