A woman was raped in a Peterborough car park after accepting a lift in the early hours of Monday morning (March 9).

The victim, a woman in her late 30s, was walking alone in Lincoln Road when she walked by a parked car between 2am and 4am.

We believe this is an isolated incident however I would urge members of the public not to accept lifts from people they do not know.

The occupants of the car, two men and a woman who she did not know, offered her a lift home and she accepted.

The victim was driven to a car park off Lincoln Road, near to the junction of Dogsthorpe Road, and raped by one of the men while the others stood outside.

The suspect is described as white, average build with short light brown hair.

Detective inspector Sarah Smith said: “We believe this is an isolated incident however I would urge members of the public not to accept lifts from people they do not know.

“I am particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have seen a grey car, possibly a Volkswagen Passat, in the area around the time of the incident.”
