Volunteers at a Yaxley charity shop were left devastated after thieves broke in and stole donations last night.
The crooks broke in through the back door at the Barnardos charity shop in Broadway, Yaxley overnight, getting away with stock which was being prepared to sell.
The shop has been forced to close this morning while scenes of crime officers work at the scene - but the volunteers who work at the shop have vowed not to let the thieves beat them, starting a new fundraising campaign while the shop is shut.
Teresa Fairchild, a volunteer, said: “We came in to work this morning and the back door had been ripped off.
“The thieves had got into the donations store, and we think electrical items and antiques were stolen, although we do not have a stock list, so it is difficult to know for sure what has happened. “All the volunteers are very deflated. It is upsetting because people have donated these items out of the goodness of their hearts.
“We do not know how long we will be closed for, so there is a loss of earnings, and we have to replace the back door.
“People have come in and been very supportive.”
