An inquest into the deaths of a father, mother and daughter from Moulton after a gun attack has been opened and adjourned today.
Lance Hart (57), wife Claire (48) and youngest child Charlotte (19), all of Hatt Close, Moulton, died in a shooting outside Castle Sports Complex, Spalding, last Tuesday morning.
No surviving members of the Hart family attened the inquest opening which drew considerable interest from the media, with eight reporters and BBC and ITV camera crews present at Boston Coroner’s Court for the proceedings which started at 9.30am.
Detective Inspector Helen Evans, senior investigating officer for the case, related details about the deaths of three family members after a shotgun incident in the sports centre’s car park where emergency services were called to at about 9am on Tuesday, July 19.
Lance Hart shot his wife and daughter before shooting himself in the head, it was revealed.
Claire was injured in the chest and abdomen and Charlotte in the abdomen.
Paul Cooper, senior Coroner for South Lincolnshire, then adjourned the inquest until Wednesday, October 19.
But in doing so, Mr Cooper asked police to find out how a shotgun was obtained by Mr Hart and to try and determine his state of mind at the time of the incident last week.
Mr Cooper also asked police to look into the state of Mr and Mrs Hart’s marital relationship ahead of the inquest resuming in three months’ time.
