Officers from Beds, Cambs and Herts Road Policing unit caught the three foreign lorry drivers within around 60 minutes of each other on the same stretch of road.

All three were given a £200 fine and six points on their driving licence - the standard penalty for the offence since the law changed recently.

But officers had to tie a wire through the spokes of a wheel on one of the lorries so it could not move in order to convince the driver to pay up.
