A Peterborough street has been cordoned off by police this morning, Sunday May 8, after a serious assault.

Police sealed off Shrewsbury Avenue in Woodston in the early hours of this morning after a man suffered serious injuries in what is thought to be a serious assault last night.

The man was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where he remains in a critical condition.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.

Police remain at the scene with the cordon in place.

Forensic officers are investigating an area around a red Honda Jazz.
