A Cambridgeshire Police control room spokesman said: “Officers were called to reports of a violent incident in the street. There were reports that a male had been attacked by three men. There was a suggestion that a handgun might have been seen so the response was proportionate. Officers arrested three suspects at the scene.”

More than seven police units and an ambulance were called to the incident this afternoon according to eyewitnesses with several armed officers in attendance.

Police cordoned off Delves Way and Bank Avenue opposite Hampton College and there were also police officers in Harn Road. A number of officers remained at the scene following the arrests.
