Two Peterborough schools were evacuated today, Monday May 23, and a road closed following a bomb threat.

Voyager Academy and Discovery Primary School, which neighbour each other on Mountsteven Avenue in Walton, were evacuated and police cordoned off the scene following the bomb threat at the Discovery campus.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said they believe the threat was a hoax and it is believed to be part of a series of threats at schools across the country that have taken place throughout the year.

Stagecoach buses were diverted.

Children have now been allowed back into the buildings and the road reopened following the hoax which took place this morning.
