UPDATE: Man appears in Peterborough court charged with murder of Wisbech woman

A man has appeared in a Peterborough court charged with the murder of a Wisbech woman and preventing her lawful and decent burial.

Steven Stocks, 43, of North Brink in Wisbech appeared in Peterborough Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with murdering 53-year-old Laraine Rayner.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday (May 6).

Ms Rayner’s body was discovered at a property in Mill Road on April 24. A post mortem concluded that she died from a stab wound to the neck.

A statement has been released on behalf of Ms Rayner’s family.

It states: “Laraine was a cheerful, happy lady who was always there for other people.

“She would often come out with one line comments that would make people laugh. She will be sadly missed by all the family.”
