Two men have been bailed after a car was stolen during a test drive in Peterborough.

At approximately 11pm on Wednesday May 25, a Hampton resident reported that their Nissan Micra had been stolen after two ‘prospective buyers’ failed to return the vehicle after a test drive.

Observations for the vehicle were passed to officers patrolling across the city, and within 40 minutes of the theft being reported, the car was located and arrests made.

The driver was also found to be over the prescribed alcohol limit and also arrested for drink driving. Two men, aged 18 and 23 from Peterborough, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. They have been bailed until June 3.
