A South Holland District Council member for the area where Liz and Katie Edwards lived has offered his support to the community.

Coun David Ashby, district councillor for Spalding St Paul’s ward since 2011, described the pair’s deaths as a “body blow” but added that the area had “lovely people” living in it who he would stand by.

I’m devastated that it’s the second time something like this has happened here and it’s body blow that I just can’t comprehend

“I didn’t know Mrs Edwards that well but it’s a shocking thing to have happened,” Coun Ashby said.

“I’m devastated and it’s a body blow that I just can’t comprehend because there are a lot of lovely people in St Paul’s ward.

“But I know people will come together and I’ll support anyone who knows the family, as well as Mrs Edwards’ family directly.”
