A family was racially abused and assaulted at a graveyard.

The family was visiting Eastfield Cemetery in Peterborough on Mother’s Day at 4pm when the incident happened. There were no serious injuries suffered, but police are now trying to trace a man and a woman they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Adrian Chapman, service director for adult services and communities at Peterborough City Council said:

“We are aware of the incident that took place on Sunday at Eastfield Cemetary. We have since met with ward councillors as well as representatives from the local community to offer our reassurance.

“The Safer Peterborough Partnership will be carrying out extra patrols in the area.”

Witnesses are asked to call Cambridgeshire police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
