An anti-social prostitute who caused misery to residents in Peterborough has been jailed for eight weeks.

Yasmin Khan (39) of no fixed abode, was locked up for two months at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court for breaching an Anti-Social Behaviour Order when she was caught ‘engaging in a sexual act for money’ in the city.

Police and the justice system take these matters seriously. This is reflected in the length of sentence.

PC Rob Giffen

Khan was given the order in August after a number of complaints about street drinking, begging, theft and other anti-social behaviour (ASB).

But she was found to be breaching the order on the evening of Thursday, June 25.

Khan has received a number of prison sentences in the past for a variety of offences, including prostitution, and was also given a two year ASBO in 2012.

The latest order was put in place to prevent her stealing, being drunk or working as a prostitute in the city. It banned her from being in certain areas of Peterborough including part of Lincoln Road, Burghley Road and Granville Street between 7pm and 7am, unless travelling directly to or from her place of abode

The five year order also banned her from acting in an anti-social manner, being drunk or having an ‘open vessel containing alcohol’ anywhere in the Peterborough City Council boundaries, or loitering in any public place for the purposes of prostitution anywhere in England or Wales.

PC Rob Giffen, from Cambridgeshire police said: “Police and the justice system take these matters seriously. This is reflected in the length of sentence. Hopefully it will encourage more support for officers, and re-assure those that are effected by ASB that the police are listening.”
