Police are investigating racist graffiti on a Whittlesey water tower.

Phrases which make reference to Asian people have been flagged to police at the tower off Peterborough Road.

Officers and Fenland District Council staff have visited the water tower and are working to investigate and rectify the damage.

A council spokesman said police contacted the local authority at around 8.30 this morning (Monday, March 6).

He added: “We sent our cleansing team out straightaway and they ensured that all the graffiti was painted over within a couple of hours.”
