After disembarking from a flight which landed at Stansted Airport on 28 September, Grzegorz Pasnik, 31, of Herlington, Orton Malborne, began using abusive language and pushing other passengers as they waited to pass through passport control.

When Border Force officers attended, Pasnik, originally from Poland, became even more irate and as they removed him from the queue he punched one of them in the head.

Police were called and Pasnik was arrested.

Border Force Assistant Director Taylor Wilson said: “Thankfully, the officer was not seriously hurt, but I want this case to send a clear message that we take any kind of physical assault on a member of Border Force staff extremely seriously.

"This kind of criminal behaviour will not be tolerated and offenders should expect to face prosecution.

“I want to thank my officers - who acted quickly, professionally and without hesitation to tackle a disruptive passenger – and also Essex Police for putting Pasnik before the courts.”

Pasnik appeared before Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Wednesday, November 15 where he pleaded guilty to charges of assault by beating, assaulting a constable, criminal damage and public disorder.

He was fined £275, subjected to a four week electronic tagged curfew and must undertake up to 15 days rehabilitation activity.
