Pensioner robbed in Peterborough street

An 83-year-old man had a bag of cash stolen from his as he parked his car in Woodston, Peterborough.

The pensioner was parking his car in n Belsize Avenue, Woodston, at about 4.40pm on Tuesday, June 23 when the robbery happened.

As he pulled up a man walked past and then as he turned the engine off the man opened the front passenger door and grabbed the bag, pulling it from his grasp.

The robber ran away and managed to escape to a waiting getaway vehicle despite being chased by a member of the public.

Police have released footage of the vehicle, believed to be a blue Renault Clio, with the suspect getting out and then in again.

DC Fran Scott, who is investigating, said: “We believe this theft was planned and there was probably more than one person involved. I would appeal to anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact me.”
