A man suffered serious facial injuries following a stabbing in Gladstone Street in Millfield, Peterborough on Sunday.

Emergency services were called at 2.36pm to the road close to its junction with Cobden Street.

Paramedics took a man with facial injuries to Peterborough City Hospital. His wounds were not life threatening.

A 48 year-old man from Peterborough and a 14 year-old boy from Peterborough were arrested for assault and taken to Thorpe Wood Police Station.

Both have been bailed to return to Thorpe Wood Police Station on January 29 2016.

An eyewitness told the Peterborough Telegraph that the man was stabbed in the area of his eye and that there were multiple police units on the scene with officers making door to door enquiries throughout the afternoon in the surrounding streets.
