A man has received serious injuries following an assault in a Cambridgeshire village.

Police were called at 2.26am on Monday December 21 by ambulance crews to reports of an assault in Brampton High Street.

A 29-year-old man from Wellingborough has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He is currently in custody in Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough.

The victim, a man in his 20s, received serious but not life threatening injuries. He is now recovering at home.

This is being treated as an isolated incident and at this stage officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the assault.
