A man was knocked unconscious in an unprovoked attack by a gang of five to seven men on Friday night.

Between about 7pm and 8pm on Friday March 24, the victim, a 30-year-old man, was walking from Sapley Square in Huntingdon, passed the Golden Knight pub, heading towards Cotton Court when he was approached by a group of about five to seven men who asked him for a cigarette.

After telling them he didn’t smoke, one of the group shouted at him before he was struck to the side of his head, causing him to lose consciousness for a short period of time.

Detective Sergeant Amanda Foreman said: “This was an unprovoked attack which has left the victim very shaken – thankfully he was not seriously injured.

“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the attack or who knows who is responsible.”
