Man in court charged with possessing explosives in Peterborough

A man charged with possessing explosives has appeared at Peterborough Magistrates' Court.

Stefan Fitzgerald (23), of no fixed abode, appeared in front of Deputy District Judge Marshall via a video link from HMP Peterborough at the court this afternoon (Friday).

Fitzgerald is charged with assault by beating and possess/control explosive with intent to endanger life/injure property.

The charge is in relation to items recovered from a property in Stokesay Court, Longthorpe on June 21.

Fitzgerald, who spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth, was wearing a grey sweatshirt for the short hearing.

Deputy District Judge Marshall said the case could only be heard at Peterborough Crown Court, and adjourned the case until July 29.

Fitzgerald was remanded into custody until the next hearing.
