Thursday 9.45am: A man has been arrested in connection with a crash on the A47 which left a woman and her one year-old grand-daughter fighting for their lives.

The collision between a pale blue Citroen and a dark blue Mazda happened at just after 12pm on Wednesday (December 3) on the westbound carriageway of the Soke Parkway near the Fulbridge Road junction.

The 25-year-old man from Peterborough was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and is in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.

The woman, who is in her 60s, and her grand-daughter have now been transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge from Peterborough City Hospital.

The woman is in a serious condition while the girl’s injuries remain life threatening.

Police are investigating and would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision or the vehicles involved just prior.
