The role of volunteers in policing attracted researchers from Japan to visit Peterborough last week.

Yasuto Kobayashi, Hirokazu Katsuno and Tsutomu Asada of the Community Affairs Department of the Japanese local government based in Aichi Prefecture attended a reception at Town Hall where they met the Mayor of Peterborough, Councillor John Peach, and mayoress Janet Martin.

They then met members of the Peterborough Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in Queens Walk, Fletton.

Alan Paul, chairman, said: “Peterborough Neighbourhood Watch was excited to be selected to co-host such a significant international visit and demonstrate the value of Neighbourhood Watch, not only for those involved but the wider community.”
