Frontline officers in Cambridgeshire given body-worn video cameras at cost of £500,000

The decision by Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Commissioner Sir Graham Bright to purchase the new Reveal 2 body-warn cameras follows growing evidence that the use of cameras helps protect the public, the police officers that wear them, and provides crucial evidence that helps prosecute offenders.

The devices, that have cost a total of £500,000, will be allocated to officers and Police Community Support Officers throughout April.

Inspector Terri Griffin said: “The body-worn cameras will help us gain the additional evidence we often need to prosecute offenders and make Cambridgeshire a safer place.”

Sir Graham Bright said: “It is important to me that we make best use of the technology available to protect the public, protect officers and to ensure we collect the evidence that allows the best chance of securing prosecutions.”
