The money will ensure the continuation of counselling services for victims of sexual abuse in the city and will significantly reduce waiting times.
A similar project in Cambridge has also been given a grant as part of the scheme.
Police and Crime Commissioner Sir Graham Bright provided the initial funding to start this enhanced service for victims through successful bids into the Ministry of Justice Competed Fund in 2014.
He said: “I have visited both organisations and know the incredible work they do in supporting victims overcome their traumatic experience. Such crimes can leave deep mental scars and take years to overcome. This money will make a real difference to the lives of many people. “
